Job Summary
Providing scientific and technical support remotely, the full-time Scientific Support Specialist will analyze environmental impacts on biological resources, prepare ESA and NEPA documentation, and coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Review and synthesize scientific data to assess environmental impacts on aquatic habitats and biological resources
- Write ESA Biological Opinions and MSA responses, and provide technical support to action agencies regarding biological assessments
- Prepare environmental documentation and coordinate with NMFS and other stakeholders on project proposals and consultations
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with three years of experience or a Master's degree in aquatic biology, conservation biology, fisheries management, wildlife management, or a related field
- Knowledge of salmonid life cycles and habitat requirements
- Experience in writing Federal regulatory documents and assessing impacts on marine species
- Proficiency in MS Office and Google Workplace applications
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse interagency teams
