Search Engineer

Job Summary

Building scalable crawling, indexing, and retrieval systems, the full-time Search Engineer will work remotely or in a hybrid setting to enhance the performance of Firecrawl's search product while managing infrastructure from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop the systems for crawling, indexing, and retrieval
• Optimize latency and cost per query as search volume increases
• Collaborate with the search team to improve ranking quality and system performance

Required qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building production backend or infrastructure systems
• Proven ability to operate backend or distributed systems at scale
• Experience in managing ambiguous problems and delivering effective solutions
• Strong focus on latency, cost, and correctness in system design
• Comfortable with a fast-paced environment and iterative development processes
