Job Summary
To support educational institutions, the Remote Async Writing Tutor (Seasonal) will provide asynchronous writing services and synchronous tutoring, focusing on essay reviews and fostering student development, with a commitment of 15-25 hours per week during peak periods.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver thorough, actionable feedback on student essays and writing assignments
- Utilize tutoring methodologies, particularly the Socratic method, to enhance students' critical thinking skills
- Engage in synchronous tutoring sessions as needed, while primarily focusing on asynchronous support
Required qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in a college/university Writing Center tutoring role
- Degree in English, writing, or a related field with a minimum 3.5 GPA
- Proficient with MS Word and Google Docs, and possess a reliable internet connection
- Experience in reviewing diverse writing topics, including health sciences and argumentative essays
- Ability to commit to a flexible schedule during surge periods from February 1 to May 15
