Section 508 Accessibility Consultant
Job Summary
To support federal accessibility initiatives, the full-time Section 508 Accessibility Consultant will ensure that digital services and products meet accessibility standards by collaborating with cross-functional teams, conducting accessibility testing, and providing guidance on best practices in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the subject matter expert on Section 508 and WCAG standards, translating requirements into practical design and testing criteria
- Conduct manual and automated accessibility testing across various digital products, identifying barriers and recommending solutions
- Provide training and hands-on support to team members on accessibility best practices and compliance requirements
Required qualifications
- At least 5 years of professional experience in digital accessibility, Section 508 compliance, or related fields
- Strong knowledge of Section 508 requirements and WCAG accessibility standards
- Experience with both automated and manual accessibility testing methods
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, or VoiceOver
- Ability to pass a 6C Public Trust investigation, including U.S. citizenship
