Security Control Assessor

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Security Control Assessor to support cybersecurity solutions for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of security controls for IT systems to evaluate their effectiveness
• Plan and perform security authorization reviews and develop assurance cases for system installations
• Identify security gaps and recommend actions for risk mitigation in security architecture

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or a related technical discipline, or relevant experience in lieu of a degree
• 1+ years of hands-on experience with cybersecurity policy, risk management, or security assessments
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and organizational requirements related to data security
• Familiarity with system and application security threats and vulnerabilities
• Understanding of data security standards such as PII, PCI, and PHI
