Security Engineering Manager

Job Summary

Leading a team of security engineers, the full-time remote Security Engineering Manager will oversee the development and operation of foundational security capabilities, ensuring secure development practices across Plaid's engineering teams.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performance team of security engineers while fostering a collaborative culture
• Own the technical roadmap for core security capabilities, focusing on encryption, authN/authZ, CI/CD, and network security
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable self-service security infrastructure that meets varying security maturity needs

Required qualifications:

• 8-14 years of software engineering experience, including approximately 6+ years in engineering management roles
• Strong technical background in security domains such as auth systems, encryption, and identity/access services in AWS and K8s environments
• Experience managing engineers in a security, platform, or infrastructure context
• Proven track record of building scalable platform capabilities used across product-focused engineering organizations
• High-empathy communication skills with the ability to represent technical work to senior leadership
