Security Engineering Manager

Job Summary

To build and lead a dedicated security engineering team, the full-time remote Security Engineering Manager will design and execute the security engineering program, prioritize security initiatives, and provide hands-on technical leadership while hiring and mentoring team members.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute the security engineering program, maintaining a prioritized security roadmap and managing the security-debt register
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, participating in architecture reviews and contributing to proofs of concept and security automation
• Hire and develop a collaborative security team, fostering a culture where security work is integrated into engineering practices

Required qualifications

• Strong background in security engineering, infrastructure engineering, or platform engineering with experience in building relevant systems
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement security programs or technical initiatives from inception to delivery
• Working knowledge of modern cloud security practices, including IAM, secrets management, and secure SDLC across multiple cloud environments
• Proven coaching and mentoring skills with a track record of developing engineers, including early-career professionals
• Experience in making informed tooling and vendor decisions, balancing build vs. buy considerations
