Senior Actuary, P&C Reserving

Job Summary

Leading the General Liability and Umbrella Reserving team, the full-time Senior Actuary, P&C Reserving will manage reserve analyses, apply actuarial judgment to evaluate reserve adequacy, and collaborate with various business units to enhance the use of actuarial insights in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design, execution, and communication of reserve analyses for assigned business lines, including quarterly and annual studies
• Manage reserves by applying actuarial judgment to assess adequacy and volatility, while monitoring emerging claims experience
• Translate technical findings into actionable recommendations for various stakeholders, enhancing the connection between reserving insights and business strategies

Required qualifications

• Strong knowledge of P&C actuarial reserving techniques, especially for long-tailed casualty lines like General Liability and Umbrella
• FCAS designation required, with at least eight years of actuarial experience in commercial lines or a closely related analytical area
• Proficiency in actuarial and data tools such as Excel, SQL, R, Python, or SAS, with experience in automation and data visualization
• Demonstrated experience leading reserve studies and evaluating the adequacy of reserves for complex portfolios
• Ability to communicate complex actuarial concepts clearly to non-actuarial audiences and build collaborative relationships across departments
