Senior AI Bioinformatics Engineer

Job Summary

Combining expertise in AI backend engineering and bioinformatics, the full-time Senior AI Bioinformatics Engineer will design and build scalable production systems that integrate genomic reasoning and AI, working remotely to transform complex genomic data into accessible health insights.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build production AI systems that power genomic reasoning and retrieval
• Develop distributed backend services and high-performance data architectures
• Collaborate with bioinformatics experts to ensure accurate representation and reasoning of genomic knowledge

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in designing and operating production backend systems at scale
• Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and experience with large-scale data processing technologies
• Deep expertise in human whole genome sequencing and variant interpretation
• Strong knowledge of core genomic resources such as ClinVar and dbSNP
• Experience building production software that applies bioinformatics to real-world applications
