Senior AI Security Engineer

Job Summary

To ensure the responsible use of AI in education, the full-time remote Senior AI Security Engineer will lead the security design for internal AI systems, govern AI tool integrations, and define AI security policies while collaborating with engineering teams to embed security practices within the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Lead security design for AI infrastructure and workflows, establishing guardrails for data handling
• Evaluate and govern external AI tools and services, ensuring compliance with data privacy standards
• Define and implement AI security governance policies, aligning with broader data protection obligations

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of security engineering experience with a focus on production systems
• Direct experience with AI systems security, including LLM integrations and retrieval pipelines
• Experience in evaluating third-party AI tools with a focus on data privacy and vendor risk
• Strong grounding in application and data security practices, including threat modeling and access control
• Proven ability to build security programs and processes from scratch in ambiguous environments
