Senior API Developer

Job Summary

Leading the design and development of modular microservices and RESTful APIs, the contract-to-hire Senior API/Microservices Developer will work remotely to enhance environmental data management systems for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) using Java technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate scalable microservices and RESTful APIs
• Collaborate with government stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative software solutions
• Modernize legacy systems and ensure compliance with federal security standards

Required qualifications

• Extensive experience with Java 21 and the Spring Boot ecosystem, including REST API design
• Proven expertise in microservices architecture and integration with Oracle/PostgreSQL databases
• Strong background in cloud-native development and DevOps practices
• Experience in performance optimization and modernizing legacy applications
• Ability to obtain EPA Public Trust Level 4 clearance
