Senior Application Engineer

Job Summary

To support software development initiatives, the contract Senior Application Engineer will design, develop, and optimize software applications remotely, leveraging the full software development lifecycle to enhance user experiences and meet business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Research and analyze the existing CACS application, identifying required changes for integration with downstream applications
• Design, develop, and optimize high-quality software applications, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and organizational coding standards
• Lead small projects, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to gather requirements and drive continuous improvement

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of experience in application or software development engineering
• Expertise in mainframe programming languages and development tools such as JCL, COBOL, and DB2 on z/OS
• Advanced proficiency in software development principles and the SAFe/Agile methodology
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with experience in software testing and quality assurance
