Senior Application Engineer, HPC
Job Summary
To support the development of software tools for scientific discovery, the full-time Senior Application Engineer, HPC will translate complex research into practical applications for numerical simulations in physics, collaborating with research, engineering, and product teams in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Develop workflows for experimental processing/analysis and numerical simulations in imaging science, plasma, and high energy physics
- Profile applications and run benchmarks to identify bottlenecks, providing recommendations to collaborators and product teams
- Represent the organization at leading scientific conferences, workshops, and industry events
Required qualifications
- BS, MS, or PhD in computational, theoretical and/or experimental physics, applied mathematics, computer science, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience building HPC, AI, or machine learning software for physics applications
- Strong experience with GPU-accelerated computing and modern ML frameworks
- High-impact publications in HPC and AI for numerical simulations, plasma physics, and imaging science are preferred
- Experience with CUDA, parallel programming, or performance-focused software development is advantageous
