Senior Applied Research Scientist

Job Summary

Inventing AI-native numerical algorithms, the full-time Senior Applied Research Scientist will research and develop machine learning methods to enhance numerical solvers for scientific and engineering simulations in a remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Research AI-assisted numerical methods to improve performance metrics for large-scale simulations
• Invent and implement learned algorithms and solver strategies that integrate machine learning with classical methods
• Collaborate across various teams to define NVIDIA's applied research agenda for AI-native numerical methods

Required qualifications

• PhD or equivalent experience in computer science, machine learning, scientific computing, or a related field
• 5 years of relevant work or research experience
• Strong background in machine learning and scientific computing with a focus on numerical algorithms
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX, and proficiency in Python and GPU computing
• Familiarity with PDEs, sparse linear algebra, and numerical methods like finite element or finite volume methods
