Senior Applied Scientist, Information Retrieval

Job Summary

Owning the end-to-end technical delivery of large-scale information retrieval systems, the full-time Senior Applied Scientist, Information Retrieval will design, build, and deploy NLP systems that enhance legal products, working remotely with a focus on search performance and evaluation framework development.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy large-scale information retrieval systems with an emphasis on search performance and latency optimization
• Develop rigorous evaluation frameworks for assessing precision, recall, and latency metrics
• Translate business objectives into technical requirements while collaborating with product and engineering teams

Required qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, AI, NLP, Information Retrieval, or a related field, or a Master's with equivalent industry experience
• 5+ years of post-degree industry experience in building and deploying IR and NLP systems in production settings
• Publications in recognized conferences such as ACL, EMNLP, or SIGIR
• Hands-on experience with Python, PyTorch, and Hugging Face Transformers
• Expertise in large-scale information retrieval system design and search evaluation methodologies
