Senior Applied Scientist, Search

Job Summary

Focused on building and deploying production-grade search systems, the full-time remote Senior Applied Scientist, Search will design and implement advanced neural search technologies to enhance search quality and relevance for legal and professional content.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy end-to-end neural search systems, including dense retrieval and semantic chunking
• Develop models for query understanding, document re-ranking, and retrieval quality optimization
• Drive independent technical decisions on retrieval architecture and partner with engineering for delivery and scale

Required qualifications

• PhD or Master's in Computer Science, AI, NLP, or a related field
• 5+ years of post-degree industry experience in shipping search or retrieval systems into production
• Publications at major conferences such as SIGIR, ECIR, or NeurIPS
• Proficiency in production Python and experience with frameworks like PyTorch or DeepSpeed
• Hands-on experience with neural IR fundamentals and search system design
