Senior Back End Engineer

Job Summary

To support the VA team, the fully remote Senior Back End Engineer will design and develop scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot, build and maintain REST APIs, and improve a large Java EE legacy codebase while collaborating with frontend engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services and REST APIs within a cloud-based environment
• Modernize and maintain a Java EE legacy codebase while enhancing system performance and reliability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive end-to-end solutions and support secure software delivery practices

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with Java as a primary language
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservice architecture
• Experience working with or modernizing Java EE legacy systems
• Familiarity with AWS cloud environments
• Bachelor's Degree
