Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Supporting a large federal government healthcare technology project, the full-time Senior Backend Engineer will design, develop, and modernize enterprise backend services and APIs in a 100% remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services, APIs, and enterprise integration components for healthcare applications
• Lead technical implementation activities and collaborate with architects and technical leadership to align solutions with platform standards
• Perform code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and support troubleshooting and production activities across multiple environments

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in backend engineering or software engineering roles
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful API development
• Experience with SQL, relational database design, and backend data integration patterns
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government clearance
