Senior Backend Engineer
Job Summary
Leading the development of backend systems, the full-time remote Senior Backend Engineer will enhance the MapMyFitness platform by collaborating with cross-functional teams, addressing bugs, and ensuring high availability for millions of users.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead development of backend systems and growth initiatives for the MapMyFitness platform
- Collaborate with marketing, product, and design peers to ship great user experiences
- Monitor and resolve incidents, ensuring high availability and continuous improvements
Required qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in backend software development
- Proficient in Python and Java; experience with Scala is a plus
- Strong experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures
- Experience with RDS/MySQL and Django
- Familiarity with Kafka or similar messaging/event-driven systems
