Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

To support the development and maintenance of scalable backend services, the fully remote contract Senior Backend Engineer will design, build, test, and optimize RESTful APIs and backend components while contributing to data processing workflows using Databricks and SQL/Python.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using Java (Spring WebFlux) and Python
• Build and support data processing workflows using Databricks notebooks (SQL/Python) and optimize complex PostgreSQL queries
• Collaborate with senior engineers in Agile ceremonies and troubleshoot backend and API issues in both development and production environments

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field
• 4+ years of backend development experience with Java (Spring Boot) and Python
• Hands-on experience with Databricks notebooks for data analysis or processing
• Strong PostgreSQL/SQL skills and familiarity with Azure or AWS cloud environments
• Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps practices
