Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the design and evolution of backend services, the full-time Senior Backend Engineer will work remotely to generate and support personalized podcast episodes at scale while transforming MVPs into reliable production systems and mentoring team engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of backend services for personalized podcast episodes
• Transform MVPs and prototypes into reliable production systems with clear APIs and strong observability
• Mentor engineers and enhance the quality of technical design discussions and operational practices

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems using Java, Kotlin, Scala, Go, or similar languages
• Experience with distributed systems concepts including asynchronous processing and service-to-service APIs
• Hands-on experience with LLM-powered applications and agentic workflows
• Strong ability to navigate ambiguity while maintaining engineering discipline
• Experience mentoring engineers and improving engineering quality and operational maturity
