Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Supporting a large federal government healthcare technology project, the full-time Senior Backend Engineer will design and develop backend services, APIs, and integration components while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a 100% remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services and APIs for mission-critical healthcare applications
• Lead technical implementation efforts, including service-layer logic and data processing
• Collaborate with architects and technical leadership to align solution design with platform standards and requirements

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in backend engineering or software development
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful API development
• Experience with SQL, relational database design, and backend data integration patterns
• Proven ability to lead technical implementation efforts and mentor junior engineers
