Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

As a high-ownership contributor, the fully remote Senior Backend Engineer will manage the Fondue product's architecture, focusing on cashback, discounting, and incentives systems while driving technical standards and implementing AI-first development practices.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of the Fondue product and its underlying architecture, becoming the go-to technical expert
• Independently investigate, design, and execute solutions across evolving distributed systems
• Drive system decoupling and modularization to break down monolithic dependencies into flexible components

Required qualifications

• 4+ years of experience building large-scale backend systems and APIs, with a focus on Typescript (Go preferred)
• Experience with autoscaling strategies for applications deployed on Kubernetes or similar platforms
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, SQL, and thoughtful database modeling
• Experience building and observing applications on AWS, ideally with knowledge of Datadog
• Strong instincts for technical trade-offs informed by engineering best practices and business priorities
