Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Owning the full development cycle, the full-time Senior Backend Engineer will design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end systems for a Payroll product in a remote environment, collaborating closely with product teams and ensuring robust deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain highly scalable back-end systems using a microservices architecture
• Collaborate with product managers and front-end engineers to implement new features aligned with the product roadmap
• Write clean, maintainable code and optimize APIs for seamless integrations across the platform

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience in backend development for SaaS applications
• Proficient in Java and/or Kotlin with experience in testing methodologies
• Strong knowledge of software design, scalable architecture, and relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL
• Experience working with AWS or an equivalent cloud platform
• Located in the Toronto metropolitan area
