Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Owning AI features from prototype to production, the full-time Senior Backend Engineer will build APIs and tool-using agents for grant discovery and application drafting, while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Ship AI to production by building resilient and observable services for grant-related tasks
• Write high-quality, thoroughly tested code across backend systems and data pipelines
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and GTM teams to scope features and iterate based on experiments

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in building production backend systems using Python (FastAPI, Celery, or equivalent)
• Hands-on experience with LLM features in production, including tool calling and multi-step workflows
• Strong data fundamentals, including SQL and schema design
• Experience in a fast-paced startup environment with a focus on ownership and quality
• Familiarity with AWS or GCP, Docker, CI/CD, and observability practices
