Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Owning the borrower-facing experiences on the Personal Loans team, the full-time Senior Backend Engineer will build and maintain applications that enhance borrower satisfaction and drive business growth, utilizing modern web and mobile technologies in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless borrower experiences across web and mobile platforms
• Manage projects from technical design through launch and iteration, focusing on outcomes that advance business goals
• Develop and optimize high-performance Java and Kotlin microservices while integrating with secure REST and GraphQL APIs

Required qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science with 8+ years of experience or MS in the same fields with 6+ years of experience
• Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, and the Spring Boot framework for designing and scaling distributed microservices
• Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and event-driven architectures such as GCP Pub/Sub
• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, particularly GCP, and modern CI/CD pipelines
• Strong background in automated testing and system observability to ensure service reliability and security
