Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

To support the Data Platform team, the remote Senior Backend Engineer will design, build, and operate distributed data-intensive backend systems while managing production data infrastructure and debugging complex production issues.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate distributed, data-intensive backend systems for various product capabilities
• Own and improve production data infrastructure, including streaming and batch pipelines and observability
• Debug and resolve complex production issues across data pipelines and distributed systems, participating in on-call rotations

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of professional backend software engineering experience, particularly with distributed systems and data-intensive production systems
• Experience with data pipeline, streaming, orchestration, or batch-processing technologies such as Kinesis or Airflow
• Hands-on experience with analytical and operational data stores like ClickHouse or Postgres
• Strong programming skills in Go, Python, SQL, Scala, or similar backend languages
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and observability tools like Datadog
