Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Joining a team of engineers, the full-time Senior Backend Engineer will focus on developing tools, APIs, and integrations using Elixir and Phoenix, while working remotely to enhance Remote's HR and Payroll products.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives
• Provide technical insights and feedback to improve product work and maintain a good understanding of the team's domain
• Mentor other engineers and propose improvements to the platform through agentic workflows

Required Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems
• Practical experience in designing or adopting automation workflows and improving them through iteration
• Proficiency with Postgres (or similar) and CI/CD tools (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, etc.)
• Demonstrated strong automation and AI capabilities
• Ability to think in systems and effectively define specifications and quality verification processes
