Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Designing and scaling backend systems, the full-time Senior Backend Engineer will own production services, APIs, and database design for an identity verification platform while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs for identity verification and account protection workflows
• Debug complex production issues and improve reliability, performance, and observability of systems
• Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver secure, user-friendly customer-facing workflows

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems
• Strong proficiency in backend languages such as Node.js, Go, Python, or Java
• Experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization
• Hands-on experience with cloud services, preferably AWS
• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and security practices
