Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

To support the growth of Route's post-purchase platform, the remote Senior Backend Engineer will design, build, and scale backend services, focusing on complex distributed systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance merchant and consumer experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain highly scalable backend services using Go
• Own critical services supporting Package Protection, Returns Protection, and order management
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Engineers to deliver impactful solutions and mentor junior engineers

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend systems
• Proficiency with Go or another modern backend language
• Experience with cloud-based services, preferably in AWS environments
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, such as CockroachDB or DynamoDB
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
