Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Joining the Core Discovery team as a remote Senior Backend Engineer, the ideal candidate will manage and lead the development of key components for Maps and Location services while collaborating with cross-functional teams and ensuring scalable software architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate, build, and lead key components of Core Discovery services, focusing on Maps and Directory search
• Work closely with UX designers and data scientists to create comprehensive and user-focused solutions
• Stay updated with the latest technology trends to ensure scalable and innovative solutions

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in modern software development environments
• Expertise in system design, architecture, and proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript
• Experience in building and scaling backend systems in production, particularly location-based systems
• Familiarity with search systems, including relevance and ranking, preferably using Elasticsearch
• Strong data fundamentals with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and document stores (MongoDB)
