Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

To support a growing platform, the contract-to-hire Senior Backend Engineer will design and optimize PostgreSQL databases, build and maintain AWS infrastructure, and develop backend services using Python/FastAPI in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design PostgreSQL schemas and optimize query performance for high-write workloads
• Build and manage AWS infrastructure, ensuring cost-efficiency, reliability, and security
• Develop and maintain backend services while collaborating with cross-functional teams on API design and feature delivery

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience with production Python (FastAPI, Flask, or Django)
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization
• Solid experience with AWS services such as Lambda, RDS, and App Runner
• Experience designing and documenting REST APIs (OpenAPI/Swagger)
• Startup mindset with the ability to work independently in ambiguous situations
