Senior Backend Engineer
Job Summary
Owning the development of critical billing systems, the remote Senior Backend Engineer will design and build APIs for plans, pricing, and entitlements while modernizing the billing platform using technologies such as Go, TypeScript, and AWS.
Key responsibilities
- Design and build systems for plans, pricing, entitlements, and limits, exposing them through APIs
- Decompose billing from the monolith into correct, testable, and independently deployable services
- Ensure end-to-end correctness in usage metering, reconciliation, and customer invoicing
Required qualifications
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with complex backend applications
- Experience in decomposing a monolith into microservices
- Proven track record in systems where correctness is essential, including practices like idempotency and reconciliation
- Proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Go, Rust, Python) and familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent)
- Strong production ownership experience, including on-call responsibilities
