Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Joining a high-impact team, the full-time Senior Backend Engineer will architect foundational security and identity services for healthcare technology while leading the transition to a modern Identity and Access Management platform in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the core services for authenticating entities within the ecosystem, balancing scalability and session revocation
• Define fine-grained authorization strategies across a multi-tenant hierarchy of organizations and locations
• Manage infrastructure for enterprise integration, including federated identity and secure machine-to-machine communication protocols

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building distributed systems using Go
• Deep understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and JWT
• Proven ability in system design, managing complex data migrations, and building gRPC-based microservices
• Exceptional written communication skills, particularly in creating Technical Design Documents for cross-team collaboration
• Experience with zero-trust security principles and familiarity with Zanzibar-style authorization or SpiceDB
