Senior Backend Engineer
Job Summary
To shape the architecture and delivery of scalable backend services, the remote Senior Backend Engineer will own the technical roadmap, drive architectural decisions, and establish engineering standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities
- Own the technical roadmap for backend services supporting reporting, data access, scheduled processing, and data export
- Drive and document architectural decisions while balancing immediate delivery needs with long-term technical health
- Translate ambiguous requirements into executable technical plans and mentor engineers to strengthen technical judgment across the team
Required qualifications
- 12+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems with demonstrated technical leadership
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring or another modern backend language and framework
- Proven ownership of architecture across multiple services, including REST API and service contract design
- Strong relational database expertise covering schema design, migrations, and query performance
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform, and containerization
