Senior Backend Engineer II

Job Summary

Experienced backend engineers will find a full-time remote opportunity as a Senior Backend Engineer II, responsible for designing, building, and operating backend services for a vehicle transportation platform while mentoring junior engineers and managing technical architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Own the architecture and implementation of multiple backend services, ensuring production excellence and reliability
• Lead the development of asynchronous systems and third-party API integrations while mentoring junior and mid-level engineers
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into technical specifications and communicate architectural trade-offs

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of professional backend experience, with proficiency in Python and experience in Django and/or FastAPI
• Strong knowledge of concurrent and asynchronous programming in Python, including experience with task queues like Celery
• Hands-on experience with SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and familiarity with message brokers or streaming platforms
• Experience building and maintaining REST APIs, with a solid understanding of system design and microservices
• Comfortable with CI/CD pipelines and agile methodologies, capable of shipping multiple small releases per day
