Senior Backend Software Engineer

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Senior Backend Software Engineer will design, build, and evolve the event-sourced workflow engine, tackling complex backend challenges while leading technical discussions and mentoring team members.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the event-sourced engine and its APIs, ensuring backward compatibility and safe public API evolution
• Lead the resolution of ambiguous problems, driving the solution design and delivery across the engineering team
• Optimize performance and data access patterns, ensuring high-quality standards and resilience in production environments

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience, particularly with distributed and event-driven systems
• Deep knowledge of event sourcing, distributed execution, and their associated failure modes
• Strong expertise in API design, including contract-first approaches and versioning
• Proven ability to diagnose and fix performance issues under production load
• Demonstrated technical leadership skills, with experience in driving decisions and mentoring other engineers
