Senior Backend Software Engineer

Job Summary

As a full-time Senior Backend Software Engineer on the Data Streaming team, the successful candidate will design and build core streaming infrastructure, develop customer-facing data streaming capabilities, and participate in support rotations, all in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build the core streaming infrastructure that decouples process data access from the live execution engine
• Develop customer-facing data streaming capabilities, integrating with systems like Kafka for reliable data access
• Rebuild Camunda's analytics product to enhance process data consumption and serve it at scale

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a backend engineer, particularly in Java with a focus on distributed or data-intensive systems
• Hands-on experience with object storage systems (S3/GCS/Azure) and reliable upload/commit protocols
• Experience with Kafka or similar streaming/event-log systems
• Strong grounding in distributed systems fundamentals
• Proven experience leading medium-to-large engineering initiatives end-to-end
