Senior Bioinformatics Engineer

Job Summary

Combining expertise in AI backend engineering and bioinformatics, the full-time Senior Bioinformatics Engineer will design and build distributed services and genomic reasoning engines remotely, enabling AI to accurately interpret complex genomic data.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop production AI systems that power genomic reasoning and retrieval
• Serve as the bioinformatics expert on the AI Team, shaping genomic knowledge representation and validation
• Collaborate with engineers to create scalable services for accurate reasoning over genes, variants, and health data

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend systems design and operation at scale
• Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and experience with production services
• Deep knowledge of human whole genome sequencing and genomic interpretation
• Experience with large-scale data processing systems and relevant technologies like Apache Spark
• Familiarity with genomic resources such as ClinVar, dbSNP, and variant interpretation
