Job Summary
To support the ongoing development of the COMPASS model, the full-time Senior C++ Programmer will enhance and maintain this mission-critical application, collaborating with NOAA scientists to implement new features and improve model performance, primarily based in Seattle, WA with potential for remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of the COMPASS model's graphical user interface (GUI) and enhance user-friendly features
- Complete and improve the adult passage module, modeling ecological processes and upstream migration
- Collaborate with NOAA personnel for troubleshooting and validation of model parameters using field data
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field
- At least 10 years of applied programming experience with proficiency in C++ (C++17 or later)
- Experience with large, object-oriented codebases and scientific modeling applications
- Proficiency with the Qt development environment and Boost libraries
- Experience with Git version control
