Senior C++ Software Engineer
Job Summary
Providing specialized technical expertise, the full-time remote Senior C++ Software Engineer will analyze and optimize the MRMS Hydromet/QPE codebase, advise on C++ coding strategies, and guide project staff in software development activities.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze the existing MRMS Hydromet/QPE codebase and develop recommendations for the VCP-Agnostic version of MRMS
- Advise on and modify existing C++ code or contribute new code for the optimization of the MRMS software suite
- Provide expert technical guidance on software design, coding approaches, and technical risks for development activities
Required qualifications
- BA/BS in a technical or business discipline
- 4+ years of professional and/or academic experience
- Proficiency in C++ programming; knowledge of Perl, Python, and Bash is preferred
- Experience with software development tools, particularly Git
- Ability to advise on software architecture and development risks
