Senior Collection Specialist

Job Summary

Managing a portfolio of customer accounts, the full-time Senior Collection Specialist will be responsible for collecting receivables, resolving billing issues, and performing account reconciliations in a remote capacity while being based in the Chicago area for training and occasional meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor customer balances and prioritize collection actions based on accounts receivable and cash receipt reporting
• Contact customers to apply collection efforts and resolve past due balances through investigation and troubleshooting
• Prepare and communicate account status summaries for management and business partners during meetings

Required qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in credit/collections or customer service, with knowledge of rail billing processes preferred
• Proficiency in collections and experience with SAP is extremely helpful
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including data management and report creation using formulas and VLOOKUPS
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
• Some college education is preferred
