Senior Counsel - IP and Privacy

Job Summary

To support a growing legal team, the full-time Senior Counsel - IP and Privacy will lead the protection, commercialization, and compliance of the company's product and intellectual property portfolio while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the intellectual property portfolio, including patent and trademark prosecution, in collaboration with external counsel
• Advise on product lifecycle integration of legal, privacy, and regulatory best practices, particularly concerning AI and data governance
• Ensure adherence to corporate governance frameworks and maintain cross-functional alignment with relevant policies

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of senior legal experience in IP, AI, and data privacy frameworks within top-tier private practice or high-growth tech environments
• Strong command of global privacy regulations such as PIPEDA, CCPA, and GDPR
• Proven experience in patent capture, trade secret management, and portfolio monetization
• Background in hardware, software, AI, or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) technologies is preferred
• Active member in good standing with any Canadian provincial or US state bar, holding an undergraduate law degree from an accredited institution
