Senior Data Engineer

Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time contract basis, the Senior Data Engineer will leverage expertise in Google Cloud to support innovative companies in their data and application modernization journeys, focusing on ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and distributed data systems.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with customer teams as a trusted advisor to facilitate technology decisions and execute data engineering projects
• Design and build ELT or ETL pipelines to process large datasets and ensure efficient data flow
• Utilize cloud data warehouses, particularly BigQuery or Snowflake, to enhance data processing capabilities

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a data engineer or in a comparable engineering role
• Strong programming skills in Python or a JVM language (Java, Scala)
• Advanced SQL knowledge with experience in relational databases and query authoring
• Experience with cloud data platforms in a production setting, preferably using GCP native tools
• Familiarity with data engineering tools and practices, including DataOps and workload scheduling tools like Apache Airflow
