Senior Data Engineer

Job Summary

To establish a robust analytical data foundation, the full-time Senior Data Engineer will design ingestion pipelines, implement data governance practices, and contribute to technology evaluations in a remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own ingestion pipelines from PostgreSQL and Kafka/AWS MSK into the analytical platform
• Establish data governance practices, including access controls, audit logging, and data lineage
• Write RFCs, architecture proposals, and design documentation for engineering and non-data stakeholders

Required qualifications

• 5-7+ years of professional data engineering experience
• Hands-on experience designing and building data pipelines from transactional databases like PostgreSQL
• Production experience with Kafka, AWS MSK, or comparable streaming technologies
• Experience establishing data governance practices and understanding of compliance tradeoffs
• Strong written communication skills, including experience producing technical design documents
