Senior Data Engineer

Job Summary

To support the Federal Government's SBA Office of Inspector General, the remote Senior Data Engineer will design, implement, and maintain a flexible data architecture in Microsoft Azure, focusing on fraud analytics, data pipelines, and machine-learning activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expertise in data-engineering methods and best practices
• Design and maintain secure, scalable, and flexible data architectures and ELT/ETL pipelines
• Optimize data ingestion, processing, storage, and retrieval while ensuring quality controls and monitoring

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or a related field; or five years of applied work experience in one or more of these fields
• At least five years of hands-on experience maintaining SQL databases and conducting advanced SQL and T-SQL operations
• At least five years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining ELT/ETL processes in cloud-based environments
• At least three years of experience working with Azure Synapse and Azure Machine Learning
• Proficiency in manipulating data using Python and using Pandas
