Senior Data Platform Engineer

Job Summary

Owning the reliability and performance of data infrastructure, the full-time Senior Data Platform Engineer will build and modernize systems that support Medium's product and engineering teams while working remotely in the U.S.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and modernize the data infrastructure for product and engineering teams
• Ensure the reliability of data infrastructure by identifying risks and driving improvements
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to design trustworthy data systems

Required Qualifications

• 4-6 years of experience in data engineering, backend engineering, DevOps, or SRE
• Proficiency in Python, with strong skills expected during the interview process
• Experience with data pipeline tooling (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Spark) and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS)
• Ability to assess and advocate for improvements in legacy systems
• Familiarity with data observability tooling or ML infrastructure is a plus
