Senior Data Scientist

Job Summary

Supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs' Electronic Health Record program, the full-time Senior Data Scientist will lead statistical modeling, AI/ML evaluation, and data governance efforts, ensuring data quality and operational analytics for healthcare modernization initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead statistical modeling and analytic decision support for VA EHR modernization and operational reporting
• Design and evaluate statistical and machine learning models, assessing their quality and operational usefulness
• Serve as a data governance point of contact, identifying data quality issues and developing reproducible analytics products

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data science, statistics, or machine learning, preferably in healthcare or federal environments
• Advanced degree in statistics, data science, or a related quantitative field
• Strong foundation in theoretical and applied statistics, including model diagnostics and evaluation
• Advanced proficiency in R for statistical computing and analytics, with strong SQL skills
• Experience with Git and GitHub for version control and collaborative development
