Job Summary
To support the development of predictive models for extreme weather impacts on electric grid infrastructure, the full-time Senior Data Scientist - Colorado Licensed will design and operationalize machine learning models for transmission outage prediction, working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate machine learning models to predict transmission outages driven by extreme weather
- Build spatio-temporal models linking weather forecasts to infrastructure failure risk
- Collaborate with meteorologists and software engineers to enhance outage and extreme weather product capabilities
Required qualifications
- Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, Atmospheric Science, Civil Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in statistical modeling and machine learning applied to grid reliability or storm outage prediction
- Demonstrated experience developing transmission outage prediction models
- Strong grounding in machine learning methods and statistical modeling for spatio-temporal problems
- Hands-on experience with agentic coding tools for AI-assisted development
