Senior Database Administrator

Job Summary

Leading the AWS database modernization effort for a recently migrated healthcare platform, the full-time Senior Database Administrator will manage the migration from self-managed SQL Server on EC2 to AWS RDS, optimize database costs, and mentor the existing SQL DBA team on cloud operations in a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and execution of the migration from self-managed SQL Server on EC2 to AWS RDS (SQL Server)
• Drive database cost optimization through instance right-sizing, evaluating Reserved Instances, and eliminating unnecessary licensing costs
• Upskill and mentor the existing Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations and cloud best practices

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning and disaster recovery
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup and migration
• Strong understanding of backup/restore strategies and point-in-time recovery
• Experience working in regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2)
